I stopped drinking 6 years ago because a friend was killed by a drunk driver.
I can't imagine what the families are going through. Going to a tough year for the Blue Jackets this year.
Condolences to everyone.
I rarely drink at all for similar reasons. Whether its a wedding or going out to a bar with some friends I will always refrain from going too far. If I do I'll wait hours or call an Uber.

In PA basically everyone has a DUI and it’s sad to think that people just don’t care. Coworker has 3 duis and the thought of jail time for it sickens him. it’s like if you didn’t learn from the first, let alone the second why would you think they’d see nothing less than an obvious repeat offender and throw the books at you just based off of knowing that. People that drink and drive are the worst. I understand if you were at dinner and had a beer, having 1 beer and waiting a hour is perfectly fine. But drinking shot after shot at the bar or at home and leaving right after is down right negligence.
It's very similar in Illinois. A lot of people have one DUI and some have MULTIPLE. Like you said after one DUI you should never do it again and legally by law it should be harder for you to do anything related to driving. After the 2nd your license should be suspended for like 10 years/you have to use the in car breathalyzer to start your vehicle. After 3 you should be jailed for like 10-20 years or worse. Driving a vehicle is statistically the most dangerous thing humans do where a simple mistake means loss of life. The countries that give out the death penalty for DUI's or are enforced harshly have literally zero DUI's because if you do it your dead. When I think of someone who is driving right now after having 2+ DUI's I see them as someone who is playing Russian roulette with other peoples lives. Total scum. Total degenerates.
