Not really. If you take off the now against the rules cap reducing extra years Luongo would have a 10m cap hit, Lecavalier 10m, Weber 14m, Richards 12m, Parise/Suter 12m, Kovalchuk 11, Hossa 8, etc etc.

All contracts are going to be like this going forward. I swear I'm going to end up smacking someone if these "WOW OMG WTF" comments show up every time someone gets re-signed or signed in free agency. Tied with the 17th highest cap hit next year with a salary cap that is going down. The point of the lockout was to reduce the players salary to a more productive level. This is not that.

Wat? He's tied for 20th in scoring and is the top UFA. People who expected less are silly. This is signficantly more productive than 13 years 100 million. Cap hits are not what they were trying to reduce, salaries were. There's no issue with Semin making 7 mil, it's Weber making 27 mil with his cap circumventing signing bonus super contract.
