For Marchand ?

Pasternak is the only guy on roster close in to value RNH. although Pasternak is a better player and worth more than RNH, the oilers would be a worse team with that swap

I would have said that from pretty much game 1 this year.

I also didn’t say he’s better than Marchand , I said he’s worth more.

Player performance is like 25% of a players value , contract $ and length and age are the rest. And yea I’ll take a 25 year old RNH signed at 6 for 3 years over a 30 year old Marchand signed for 7.

He’s got a year or 2 left where you can say he’s a better player than RNH. And that’s just offensively never mind what Swiss Army knife RNH does on the other end of the puck.

I think it depends of which teams as well. For a team that is in their contention window, I'd take Marchand over RNH every time. I think 7M is more than a fair contract for what he brings, he's one of the top wingers in the game. Sure the last 2-3 years it could look ugly but for a team who is really to challenge for a Cup it's more than worth it imo.

For a team that's rebuilding I think you could take RNH if you're confident you can re-sign him in 3 years.

RNH is perfect career timeline wise for oilers and far better than Marchand. Picking a 30 year old at the start or a year or so shy of when you should be at your best bet to win window is foolish. RNH age from now to end of 97 contract , 25 to 32 , his prime. Marchands 30 to 37, already on the down swing most likely.

Also RNH value cannot be measured by stats , he’s our Patrice bergavon. There no role Hopkins can’t fill and do very well in.

Marchand is still over ppg this year, with Bergeron being injured the last little while. I don't think he's declining yet.

I don't watch enought Oilers game to comment on RNH, but I doubt he's anything close to Bergeron. He's been one of the top center in the game for a while now. RNH has McDavid drawing all the top quality of competition while Bergeron ( and Marchand as well ) are always facing the opposite team top players.

RNH has been good enough this year that there isn’t a player on Boston that would make Edmonton a better team 1 for 1 swap. His hockey IQ is ridiculous. He’s not as good as Bergavon, but he’s our version of him.

But there are all kinds of stats for defensive forwards, and just looking it up, Nuge has 48% even strength corsi... and 40% for faceoffs this year.

Lol Rip.

Also, Backlund, 56% ev Corsi, Tkachuk, 56.6%. Bergeron 56.1%.
