True, and centers are worth more, but Johnny has a demonstrably better offensive upside. I'm not saying I would turn down Eichel, but a 1-1 wouldn't be an awful trade.

Meaning there sure as hell shouldn't be a 3m+ difference in their salaries imo.

Gaudreau was PPG in his 2nd year at 22 years-old.

Eichel was PPG in his 2nd year at 19 years-old (on a sorry team).

Eichel has the potential to be a top-5 player in the league for a decade, and is the type of player that is arguably most important to team success (legit two-way 1C).

Gaudreau is a legit 1st liner himself but there's a big gap in value/worth here.

I never said Gaudreau was worth more, but 3mil a year worth is dumb. He'll be a good player, but he's also only ever scored ~58 points in an NHL season. 9mil a season is dumb especially for a 20 year old, but maybe that's why Eichel threw a tantrum and got his gm and coach fired first.
