Hope we make some moves in the next day or two if we're going to make deadline deals at all. We don't play till Tuesday so it would be smart to acquire a player and give them a day or two to practice with the day.

Tomas Kaberle is late to practice cause he's watching the Pandas on his iPad.
Practice today. Or as Kaberle calls it, "Gameday"

After tomorrow we're off until Saturday. I would hope Bergevin would make any trade deadline deals he plans to make in between then. Gives whoever we acquire time to practice with the team before our next game. I personally wouldn't mind if we traded Gorges for Smid, but everyone likes Gorges so probably not a chance in hell of happening. Smid is probably the best UFA left since Iginla said he's re-sign where he's traded.

Don't think it's easy for GMs to make trades before the deadline unless it's a fair hockey trade (player for player type) or they overpay like Shero did.

I assume most sellers wait til late to see how desperate buyers get so they can get the absolute max in return. Why sell early when someone can up the offer sometime in the next week.

I would assume any players being targeted have already been talked about with the other teams GM. Usually waiting till the deadline is what the seller does to increase value. There's always a team or two willing to sell early, in case a better player than theirs becomes available and they have nobody to sell to. Campoli is an example from last year of Gauthier waiting too long to sell. One team offered a third and he didn't take it. Although we did get Galchenyuk almost entirely because of the Kaberle-Campoli pairing so whatever.

Halpern was great. Price did everything he could do. Need someone to go in front of net, or at least not put Ryder-Plekanec-Gionta as a line and have Armstrong with Eller and Galchenyuk. All those problems get solved when Prust, Bourque and Diaz return though.
