Vegas has no motivation to accommodate anahiem. pre trade freeze options, trade 2 or 3 unprotectable players away for decent draft picks. That had to sound like a pretty sweet scenario for vegas to force a division rival into. Or lose a substantial piece of the immediate core.
Instead their core stays intact, and they get too add a 3mil$ piece of next years puzzle.
According to Bob, turns out Vegas made a "pact" with several teams. McPhee said "I'll accommodate you with a trade so you can keep the players you want but in return, you have to promise that you can't trade with other teams to help them with their list."
Apparently that's why there were so few trades before the freeze; McPhee basically cock-blocked everyone in an attempt to control the entire situation.
