I see where you are coming from but i dont think the solution is removing the rule
instead the solution is promoting more people to trusted. if you have that level of trust you should get the appropriate tag.

for example i have a active Nba/nfl/mlb tag, but i think some bball users would likely feel uncomfortable sending to me if i walked in and wanted to hold a Bilnd odds.

even though i am trust worthy enough to not complain it creates unnecessary risk (be it perceived or real)
and could discourage participation.

Thank you. This is my point.

The community should dictate who can hold the fg, and if any one person feels uncomfortable with another user involved, then the mediators are there for that reason.

Everyone here (mostly) is smart enough to know who to trust. I just think an active should be given that opportunity to prove himself, when given the chance.

If there is any shred of doubt toward a person who wants to hold fg, use a mediator. Other than that, it is up to you to decide if that person is worthy of holding the forum gold for a particular event.

I do see why only mediators would be allowed to hold fg, in order to minimize welching.

But if Nearin were to host an event, who really would complain about him holding the fg? If anything, it would allow him the opportunity to prove that he is a strong candidate for trusted as everything goes well.

And if someone doesnt trust him to med the pot, then, simply use a mediator. Not that hard.

Unlikely anybody would complain, that's why we wouldn't say no to that example ... But it can't be uniform since new users don't have that understanding - this idea is in an ideal circumstance but no rules can be built around that

we have given certain active users special permission to hold fg for games and stuff but its not generally available to any active, as lets be honest there are definitely actives with varying degree of trust

but another thing it comes down to is trying to be uniform in the rules, as much as some actives are "more trusted" than others we try andkeep everyone on the same playing field, so if that means restricting all actives then so be it

pretty much any rule we have in place only came about when something of that sort happened, so we had some actives who were holding fg and running off with it, we put those rules in place and it stopped happening

the removal from the list is really because what other punishment can we do, nothing really...so if someone cares enough about the list itll keep them within the rules

I do see your point. There is definitely a varying level of trust with each respective active user.

I just think that this variance would be accounted for as anyone who sees an active with potential to welch, would choose that the event uses a mediator to hold fg

In other words, say an active held an event. If any ONE user in that event says let's use a mediator (implyin he doesnt want the Active user to hold fg), then everyone uses a mediator. No problems.

If everyone agrees that the Active user hosting the event is good for it, then give him that chance.

Boom, Nearin meds 10kfg, no problems. Now we all know Nearin is even more trustable than we thought. Wouldnt have known if not given that chance. And if anyone didnt feel safe with him holding that much fg, just say so, and im sure the active who hosts the event would have no problems using a med either, unless he was crooked (and this exposes him in the process).

I see the use in that too. However, I could see some major issues.

Imagine person A wants a med. Person A only decides to join 1 hour before games start.
If the active who is hosting isn't online due to life or any other reason, what happens then? is person A fucked?

Also, considering whoever runs the game can decide who they let in, they may just not let people in who would rather have a med.
It may be perfectly safe, but again I can see issues coming.
