It was a $3 million fine, 3rd round pick in 2011 and 1st round pick of their choosing.
Because Kovalchuk retired, the NHL reduced the penalty. The fine was reduced by a significant amount (don't know how much) and they got that 1st rounder back in this draft, but it was the 30th pick and wasn't eligible to be traded.
