Mark Lazerus ✔

Anything's possible, but FWIW, neither Artem Anisimov nor Brent Seabrook has been approached about waiving NMCs at this point.

I have no concrete info yet, but Niklas Hjalmarsson's name has popped up a few times among people I've talked with. Marian Hossa, too.

Trading Hjalmarsson makes no sense. He is their #2 guy and making much less than he's worth, which means he fits into their cap structure.

Seabrook and Anisimov still make the most sense. Seabrook's contract is massive and Anisimov is the most replaceable player of their "core". They could still be asked to waive but it seems pretty late now. Although I guess the trade(s) could be made post-expansion.

The rumor was that Vegas will let the cup winner "have their day" in the media spotlight and then we'll see the beginnings of what could be a flurry of deals around the league.

Expecting quite a lot in the next week and a half or so.

Will really be interesting to see if and which teams gamble with their core guys that "probably won't be drafted" like if the wings leave Kronwall unprotected for instance thinking that Vegas won't select them.
(Which I doubt :( )

Will be fun to see it all play out

I think every team knows who is going to be selected for the most part, they've probably all talked to Vegas regarding several scenarios.

Guys like Kronwall, Phaneuf and Bieksa might be exposed with an agreement in place that gives Vegas something for not taking them.

Most teams won't really care, though, 'cause they'll lose a fringe player at best. The few teams that could lose a good player (Anaheim, Minnesota, etc.) will trade him away before he's claimed for free.

Can players waive their nmc for the draft only and have them kick back in after?

Im sure the answer is yes, but I don't know anyone who would particularly want to go, especially if they have a nmc already.

Except Engelland who lives in Vegas for some reason, and probably want to sign there.

I'm guessing players can waive just specifically for expansion and nothing else, just like players with NTCs can pick and choose which teams they waive for.
