It's tough to find undisputed starters on good teams.

With G.A.A and Wins on the board the starting goalies on bad teams are probably going to cost you on wins and G.A.A more often then not.

Normally I would not chase good goalies so early but this pool is kind of strange. This is the first one I have done with 4 goalie categories and 6 player categories.

Usually it is a 7-3 split, not a 6-4 split. Furthermore this is the first time I have played without +/- as well, so players from bad teams are no longer a detriment.


I think this is a new format in terms of categories and team amount so I am not sure what strategy will prove effective. It will make the pool interesting to say the least. I am looking forward to it.


I went for solid goalies and forwards that took faceoffs. Figured if I win goalie categories and faceoffs I would at least be even in the matchups.



I can see a strategy of abandoning Wins and G.A.A working just as well, if not better. A starting goalie on a bad team could be taken late and would get you a lot of saves and maybe a decent save %.

That would leave you to be able to draft an elite team of forwards/defenseman.

quite opposite for me, there's plenty of goalies left in the later rounds. I thought i drafted them late enough, but ended up picking up 2 heavy starters later anyway and there's still some tandems left in FA.

it's 7 forward, 4 goalie categories. not 6. I pretty much gave up on FW, but i think i loaded enough on G,PPP,SOG,HIT,BLKS.

so can it change to 4 for playoffs?

also, let's discuss adjusting the payouts? i think for a small 8 man league, top 4 winning is a bit too much. Maybe top 3 if not 2.

yeah i was able to set 4 for playoffs
and i figured 4 that get playoffs get paid to help encourage people to be active and try for the playoffs

Wish I knew it was 7 forward categories lol.

Initially it was 6, did not realize it was changed. Demko at 112 is great value. I want him to have a strong year.

The playoff payouts help with that



I think it was always 7, we changed +/- to fw. Actually may have been 8, cuz we removed points category

paying out more than the top 3 is weird imo


im not in it so i dont care but if i were i would like to see

chunk for regular season champ

and then 1/2 maybe 3rd in playoffs

i personally don't like the regular season payout thing its all about the playoffs IMO
and top 4 everybody who makes it gets something so if they were the reg season "champ" they get at minimum their buyin back with a chance at more

im fairly set on this pay out if you guys all really want it changed maybe ill change but im not big on the idea of paying somebody for regular season if i change its probably 1-3 get paid no reg season bonus

nah leave it as is then, all good. Ur payout is usually fine for pts leagues, but for categories leagues it's just adds way more emphasis on the couple playoffs weeks.

so #1,2,3,4 is based on the final rankings after the playoffs result. Gotta make that clear lol
