So Dhaliwal reports that Z/midelstein was offered 4.6m x 4yrs, but Zadorov wanted 5 yrs. Term was more important than money to him. However he felt disrespected cuz the Canucks didn't prioritize him after what he did in playoffs. Most likely focusing on trying to sign Guentzel. So then alvin circled back and gave him the 5th. But by then, Z didn't feel good and declined it. Waited til FA to see the offers and signed with the bruins.

Doubt he would've accepted the 4.6x5 unless his agent was really dumb, he ended up getting paid a lot more in the open market and most of us expected the Bruins deal. Z was always going to chase more money and a bigger role.

He would've accepted it because that's what he was asking for when they initially talked. Alvin held firm and said 4yrs. Then the playoffs happened, played a lot better and expected alvin to just give him the 5th year and get it done. However alvin was more focused on trying to get Guentzel, and left the cap alone to see what happens in FA. Guentzel got signed before FA, and alvin circled back to Z camp and offered the 5th he asked for. Zadorov declined since he could just wait a a day or 2 by this time to see all his options and picked the bruins offer.

I think alvin still did the right thing, geuntzel would've been a game changer so I don't blame him for trying. I don't fault z either for choosing to explore FA since it was right around the corner. He would've signed it if he really loved Vancouver more than his feelings. Everyone knew Z was gonna be worth more than his worth after his handful of playoff game success. He's doing alright for the bruins top 4 at least.

Hypothetical question boys. If you could have 1 player join our team for the season that has previously played for the Canucks who would you choose. The person you chose can be anyone from Canucks history and they will be in the prime of their career for the 1 year. Who are you picking?

Prime Pavel Bure for me hands down.

No two lines pass rule and no clutch and grab. He was putting up 60 goals in the trap era.

Depends. Are we assuming Demko will be back and at close to his regular form? Because if not I'll go with prime Luongo.

Otherwise KYA has the correct answer with Bure.

Nice to see Petey get on the board even though this was a weaker game from him compared to the last couple.

It's sad that he needs Garland to get him going but that's our reality right now.

And speaking of Garland, amazing how much of an important, complete player he's become on the ice and apparently he's a big part of the culture off the ice. Quite the turnaround for a player teams didn't want to trade for without heavy retention.

Lankinen has been great, makes big saves at key times. Massive 3-on-1 save vs the Pens pretty much right before the goal outburst. Wonder what the team would look like if we hadn't signed him.

Playing better as the season goes on here but team defense needs work and some key guys still need to get going.
