Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but this is what I understand:
When you enter a game, your item table is already determined. These are the items that can drop in your current game. Therefore, it is impossible to find some items in some games no matter how many hours you spend in there.
If you want to specifically farm a non-torment item:1) Look at the required level for an item, then make a game with a character of that level +3. For example: Moonlight Ward is req. level 8, you make a character with a level 11.
2) Get a friend to enter your game, leave with your level 11 and bring in a level 70 so you can melt the monsters in T6 rift.
3) Kill things for however long you'd like, in T6 there should be a lot of legendaries dropping. If a Moonlight Ward drops, that means it's in your item table and can be gambled from Kadala in the current game. The one that drops will be a level 11 (useless) but the ones you gamble will be level 70 (useful). Keep doing rifts and collecting shards to gamble the MLW until you get a good one.
*Theoretically, it should be easy to find out if the Moonlight Ward is in your item pool, because in a level 11 game, no legendary amulet can drop except Moonlight Ward and Squirt's.
*Remember, you
can gamble higher level amulets from Kadala in that game (amulets that won't drop from monsters), but you will at least know that it's also possible to gamble the MLW, too.
*This doesn't work on items you can't gamble, obviously, so higher-tier set items are out of the question.
*This is not proven fact, a lot of people just believe this is how it works. Could explain why I gambled 5 of the same boots over 24 gambles once
