No secret that Hartley liked Ramo. Rumour is Treliving put his foot down and waived him to take away Hartley's ability to keep playing him. Reminds me of that scene from Moneyball...
I'm okay with it. They need to give Ortio a shot and Hartley has no interest in doing so. With 5 games in 7 days, there will be some games that they will be forced to play their backup and if Ramo was on the roster, he'd be starting the games Hiller wasnt.
Edit: Frankly I understand why Hartley would want to ride Hiller/Ramo because it is probably the smarter coaching decision than starting Ortio (basically an unknown). Hartley is coaching to keep a job, so he starts what he feels gives him the best chance to win. Finding out what Ortio is, is a better organizational move.
I guess they are trying new D-Pairings aswell:
Gio-Widedog
Russel-Engelland
Hamilton-Smid
I'm glad they finally broke up Gio/Hamilton, that just wasnt working. They didnt have chemistry. We need to get some wins and get the team trending in the right direction. Right now outside of the Saturday Vancouver game and Winipeg game there hasn't been a lot of good periods for the Flames.
