It's not "a couple of players." It's pretty much the entire top 2 lines and all of our nhl-ready centers, lol. The team that is being iced on a nightly basis has like a $35 million cap hit. No team is going to be competitive with that and frankly the grand rapids guys have done pretty well considering it's basically an AHL team vs NHL teams at this point.
Blues wouldn't be much of a team if oshie/backes/steen/piet/berglund/tarasenko were all injured. Or if elliott/miller kept getting injured on and off. It has NOTHING to do with the age of the players, wings have been pretty equal opportunity with injuries to both old and young guys.
When your production guys are injured you're gonna have a bad time. Period.
yes, and the wings over the last 10 years have been pretty fortunate to not get injuries from their key players like this. this is a heavy hitting, fast contact sport. occasionally injuries come in bunches.
the red wings simply do not have enough depth to sustain injuries from their few key players, and it shows.
its nothing to be ashamed of, the red wings have had a hell of a run over the last 20 years. one of (if not the best) defensemen ever wore the wings jersey for such a long time and helped you guys become the model nhl franchise. but this happens occasionally.
i know its unfortunate, but its getting sickening seeing every wings fan (besides you) walking around saying "woe are the wings"/"so many injuries" etc etc all the time.
my point was that under a normal amount of injuries this year- not none entirely because thats not feasible- this team still wouldnt have been one of the top 5 in the west.
datsyuk is old, hes still awesome but hes gonna get hurt more often now. zetterburg just plays hard and gets hurt, nothing you can do about that.
and the wings dont have the depth to be a top 5 or 6 team in their conference without em, period.
theyre future looks bright though and nyquist looks like a stud, but youre one of the only realistic red wings fans around these parts.
