Can the one line teams, edm/bos keep this play up?
Some context
Neal McD and drai have 31goals
Kassian has 3
Bear and nurse have 2 a piece
Then everyone else has 0-1
Scary seeing a bunch of players playing 10-15games with 0 goals
Boston isn’t as bad however ....
Marchand berg pasta also have 31 goals
Debrusk and Heinen at 3
A few d with 2 along with Ritchie and Coyle
Then not a whole lot.
Here is wsh
Ovy backstrom Oshie with 21
Vrana kuzy Wilson with 19
Throw eller in with 5 Carlson 7 kempny 3
If one gets shutdown the other “top line”just scores. Pretty crazy.
Small sample sizes all around but it’ll be interesting to see how these teams do as the season progresses
Canucks have 7 4+ scorers
Ep/boeser/miller 19
Horvat virt 10
sutter 4
schaller 4 so semi spaced out on the lines. This scoring from the bottom 6 id say isn’t sustainable.
So what cracks first. Edm and Boston’s first line dominance with lack of goal support.
Or wsh/vans depth scoring drys up?
I’ll check back on this around game 40 if I remember.
Well.. not much has changed except edm has tumbled down the standings.
When you consider 86/125 GF are from
McDavid drai kassian 58g
Neal rnh 28g
They have only gotten avg goaltending/team defence mind you and are a -11 goal diff.
Boston is the most intriguing of the 4 that I did earlier. I honestly thought they would pull an edm and go back to being avg. however they have been supported by good goaltending/team defence.
Pasta berg March 67g
Debrusk krejci heinen 25g
92/139 from their top 6 scorers. The difference between them and edm has def been their goaltending. If it was edm bad then they’d be pretty average. They are sporting a goal diff of +38
Wsh has continued their dominance and spread their offence like van but better
Ovy backstrom oshie 47g
Kuzy Wilson vrana 43g
Eller 8 Carlson 13
111/143 gf from 8 players but fairly spread. The way they have two top lines they should continue their dominance through the 2nd half.
Wsh has a +23 goal diff
Van has somehow continued to spread their offence
Ep miller brock 47g
Bo Pearson 24g
Gaud virtanen 20g
That is 91g/135 but from 7 players who play on 3lines and 4 on first pp 3 on 2nd pp. they have trended up. If they can continue to get goals from their bottom 6 then they should be in the same position come 20 more games from now.
Van is sporting a +13 goal diff.
If I was to guess based on these stats I would say wsh and van have both trended like they did earlier.
Edm just doesn’t have the support in net and behind their top 5. So they will Continue being avg.
And Boston if they continue to get their good goaltending and defence will continue this pace. If they get their top line figured out then they may start to lose more games.
Stats are weird. Generally by looking at Boston and edm as an example of two similar teams. Boston is built to run a high powered top line as the rest of their team is built to shut you down and it starts with good goaltending.
Meanwhile edm is built in the sense that their offence relies on their top guys but they don’t have the depth players to shut down their opponent and if they need to rely on their goalies it doesn’t look good. ( 2.85 kos 3.11 smith) compared to Boston’s (2.2 halak 2.3 rask)
Ok that is enough rambling at 3am with a toddler up.. maybe I’ll look again around the tdl.
