Getzlaf is a top 10 , arguably top 5 center and Perry is a top 5 RW.
From Anaheim's standpoint I see it as something that needed to be done. They had no choice, players of the calibre need to be retained, regardless of cost.
This may give Anaheim way less wiggle room, but in the long run they have locked up 2 elite players, which should keep them competitive for some time.
What I worry about is the stability of the league. I do not think money like this can keep being shelled out.
These types of deals will all but guarantee another lockout when this CBA expires. This may be a win for Anaheim, but they set a dangerous precedent that will serve as the foundation (along with other deals) that will destabilize the league even more so than it already is.
I really cringe when I see deals like these because the consequences of them go far beyond one team, they shake the entire league.
