Always wondered why people spend so much on material things. I'd rather spend the money on experiences like travelling opposed to jewellery . Shed some knowledge please

Material things stay with you. And don't give me the "dur the memories will stick forever!" Some people have no desire to travel, nor have the money too. Materialistic items can be a lot cheaper.

Spend 500 on an xbox one that lasts 10 years or spend double that for a vacation that lasts a week

For me personally , the ducks tickets my dad bought me and we went to the game together was the best gift I've gotten and I'll never forget that day. Yes an xbox is a gift that you may have for 10 years but it isn't the same as spending time with a person you love doing something you enjoy.

It just isn't some people things. I hear you though, I can't say I regret anything that I did with my dad, and sometimes I wish I did more, but those types of experiences can be expensive. I know people who don't get anything on their birthday/Christmas, not for religious reasons either. It all comes down to preference.

Completely understand . My favourite part about Christmas for me at least is getting to see my entire family, in fact this is the first Christmas all my grandparents will be here

It is and always has been dependent on what the material thing is. Xbox one creates memories and jewelry for a love one is symbolic. Material things that don't mean anything are stupid.

Oh, sorry. I thought someone had already answered you.

Heres the simple version of what they all said:
