For starters. Obviously I think torturing innocent children is wrong.
But for kids like this? At 15 years old I knew right from wrong. And he sure as hell did aswell. But we are sitting here saying he isn't responsible for his actions??

The judicial system in Canada is a Complete joke - fact.

whether or not he did it is beside the point, he is a canadian who was tortured. thats what it comes down too, even if he admitted it in canadian law admission after torture is useless.

Can't torture for admission thats all this comes down too.

Once due process is fucked the system is fucked. Thats how it works.

Coerced confessions are just not good enough for convictions. So we cannot prove he was guilty of anything. Because he is not proven guilty he is innocent, (innocent until proven guilty) thus a innocent 15 year old was locked up and tortured for 10 years. thats worthy of a payout.

Thats all there really is too it. Maybe he was guilty and should be in jail. But the process was fucked up and he has to be allowed to walk.

As angry as that might make you at the system this is what having a code of laws entails

Typical leftist quote mining. And taking things out of context.

CNN is fake news.

Quoted from a CBC piece on the subject today:

"The lingering image of Khadr as a lone child among adults at Gitmo remains unsettling to me. As Human Rights Watch notes: "No existing international tribunal has ever tried a child offender for war crimes. Also unsettling is the almost unhinged zeal with which some anti-terror hawks in this country cheered on his continued imprisonment, and insisted that any demand for lenience was akin to terrorist propaganda.

"The idea that children aren't always responsible for their actions is encoded in criminal law. And modern brain-study research shows that brain development (particularly in regard to the prefrontal cortex, which shows us the consequences of our impulses) isn't complete until we're well into our 20s."
