Miller priced himself out, no contender has enough assets to trade for him. it'd be dumb to sell him now for a very underwhelming return. If he was a UFA, 100% he would've been traded for a shitty return cuz something is better than nothing. However he still got 1 more year left, so they can still trade him in the off season or next deadline, and also have the option to talk to his agent to figure out how much it would cost to extend. His contract value goes down because a team trading for him would not get an option to rent him twice or trade him again, but as a player he clearly elevated himself to off set that. I don't think there's a team available that was willing to give kings ransom for the player and value of contract at the same time this year.

I wonder what the asking price was. Maybe trading your best player was seen as a bad business move seeing a lot of fans don't understand how the cap works and so forth.

Don't see how Miller and Boeser can be signed, even if they both want to stay.

Someone has to go.

considering how much others went for, i think the only team that could afford him would be the rangers, however they did not want to give up LAF or Schneider. It would've had to be both + 1st pick to not seem underwhelming. Maybe even a 2nd if the Canucks retain 50%.

basically all the players that are still in control with the canucks didn't get traded this deadline because they can do it in the off season when teams can go 10% past the cap and figure things out, as there is no need to rush now and take a bad return for the sake of doing trades

for me, i hoped that halak got moved or at least a bit more cap got removed so the Canucks can tank the bonus salary this season instead of the next. It didn't help that Halak was willing to waive his NTC 30min before the deadline though lol

Canucks did a good job there at the start of the 3 capitalizing on those 2 bad plays to go up 2-0, Avs couldn’t solve Halak. Guy played amazing tonight

I'm more impressed by the Canucks not allowing any giveaways and avs gave 8.

They're playing like a top 5 team under Bruce, but still inconsistent as usual. Lose to shit teams, beat good teams, unmotivated in 1st period & start playing better from 2nd period etc.

Gutsy efforts but some of those letdown games earlier will cost us. The math is not our friend, as Friedman likes to say.

Aidan McDonough going back to NCAA for his final year instead of signing with the nucks and playing for AHL. Alvin/Jr tried hard to convince him.
Maybe he will be the first college prospect to pull a fox /vesey for the Canucks. He said nothing against the Canucks, doing what he thinks is best for himself.

Lockwood finished his 4 yrs and still signed cuz Higgins and Johnson, hopefully McDonough does the same?
