considering how much others went for, i think the only team that could afford him would be the rangers, however they did not want to give up LAF or Schneider. It would've had to be both + 1st pick to not seem underwhelming. Maybe even a 2nd if the Canucks retain 50%.
basically all the players that are still in control with the canucks didn't get traded this deadline because they can do it in the off season when teams can go 10% past the cap and figure things out, as there is no need to rush now and take a bad return for the sake of doing trades
for me, i hoped that halak got moved or at least a bit more cap got removed so the Canucks can tank the bonus salary this season instead of the next. It didn't help that Halak was willing to waive his NTC 30min before the deadline though lol
