No one has found any legendaries yet. Speculation is you have to be a higher level or that they'll host a special event when you can catch them.

xD I think it's tied to your player level. I just hit six and now all my nearby pokemon are evolved versions of what i've already got.

There's a legit power struggle going on at the gym across the street. It's been waffling between red and blue for like an hour. Couldn't battle it because I was walking the dog and it's hard enough to catch a damn pokemon with her yanking at the leash.

If you're walking, then off the AR setting when you're catching pokemon
Makes it a bit easier if you're moving a lot.

Turn it off even if you are standing still.

Have not used the AR setting since the first day.
