i dont know if i ever think its worth 4 first rounders to sign a player to such a hefty price, but what so ever - it is probably the best defenseman in the league atm and having him for rest of his career is mindblowing

Schenn looked good with Kaberle and has been shit since they traded him. He's like Komisarek, looks good playing defense for the left handed PMD, but when you take him away from the guy he had chemistry with he exposes himself as shit. Philly isn't exactly a D-man friendly system on the ice either, so I think he'll do even worse as a defensive defenseman.

I don't understand why the Preds wouldn't match this. Flyers are a very strong team, the first round picks are going to be in the 20's. This cap hit is small, the money isn't bad.

No way Weber signed this for any reason other than he wanted money. The fact that most of the money comes from signing bonuses means he doesn't lose money if salaries roll back, and he gets his 14 year deal before 5 year contracts become the max in the next CBA. It's win-win for Weber, he gets to stay in Nashville where he's happy with the money he wanted, or he gets to go to a contender in Philly and be the man there too. Either way this is pretty much confirmation Pronger is never returning.

4x 20th-30th overall picks? I have to disagree with that. Weber is worth more than that IMO.



They could tell the Flyers they won't match IF in return they would trade some of their players for the picks they would receive. I don't see it happening though.


Nashville will not let the face of their franchise go for 4 bottom first rounders, and I don't think Philly would part with the players that Nashville would expect in return
