Unrelated but I remember when Unrivaled.net/com or whatever used to be a pretty good DBZ site.

Montreal Canadiens expected to announce contract extension for David Dersharnais on Friday. #TSN
Hopefully 2.5 for 3 years.

Would be shocked if it was under 3.5/year

Bergevin is a wizard if it is.

Desharnais is a midget who's also RFA and not negotiating from a point of advantage. If he got injured tomorrow and retired it wouldn't affect our lineup. He knows he needs to take a discount to stay here instead of being pushed out by Eller and Galchenyuk.

Still got 60p last year and is on pace for 50p in a full year this season. Even if he's an RFA, 2.5 is pretty low for someone who can produce as a second line center.

But I was pretty surprised they got Subban for that low, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised this time around.

Also 2.5 mill for Desharnais is way enough

Just 'cause you guys don't like him that much doesn't mean his market value should be that low, again, a 50-60 point guy is worth more than 2.5M for the most part.

I get that he's an RFA and you guys wouldn't miss him that much (I don't know if that's true or not, but I'll take your word for it) but I don't see this contract negotiation strategy as a healthy way to go about things for the organization.

Bergevin basically says, "You're taking this much, regardless of your market value, and you have no other choice because you're an RFA and we'll let you rot if you don't agree".

EDIT:

But there's also the flip-side thought of RFAs getting too much too early, which makes it tough for organizations to build properly, especially budget teams.
