Yea it’s strange that they would go from 0-80k real quick then just stop

I’ve been watching that site for quite a while, one of the last days as China got to 80k they had 3-4K in a day then just stopped

But they are hunting corona patients in China like nazis hunting jews, it’s crazy

If you are comparing their numbers to America’s just remind yourself that Americans still think it’s a joke

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Police are stopping vehicles in america with New York License plates to automatically quarantine :o

Encouraging numbers from BC so far. Of course case numbers don't show the whole picture because they're mostly testing people who need hospitalization. But the rate of new cases has averaged out nicely and deaths are very manageable. Pretty surprising considering the number of direct flights to China out of Vancouver, as well as American tourists flooding the province once the world started locking down.

Yesterday we had our hours cut.

Every other week we have been mandated to take a random day off during the week.

I am pretty new with the company. Another person below me is on medical leave, so by that technicality (according to the union/company) I was on the chopping block to get laid off.

An option was given to all union employees to have me laid off so they would not lose any hours.

It went to a vote and all but one person voted for me to keep my job at the expense of losing one shift every two weeks.

I guess I am doing something right at work..... Very grateful I get to keep working. It is nice to have the respect of your colleagues. I know management does not like me much so by no means am I safe, but I am not the kind of person to keep quiet when something is unjust or unsafe.

I will have every other Thursday off now and will use the time to finally get all my tax information in order and help out family/friends were I can.

Haha it was a compromise.

The company wants to reduce numbers so the union has less bargaining power when the CBA expires in late 2021.

More than anything I am just grateful my colleagues were willing to keep me despite it resulting in their hours being cut.

It is sad really.... A lot of the office/sales staff were not so lucky..... There was some layoffs yesterday and it is really unfortunate.

Even though we are not slow right now the belief is everyone is going to slow down at some point.... I think this is just the begining as scary as that is.

More will have hours cut or get laid off across the board at this rate.

/e in all honesty I don't think they want many employees to hit two years working with the company. You get nearly $26 an hour with great benefits and 3 weeks vacation at that point doing what I consider an easy warehouse job.

It is a living wage for unskilled labor, which is getting increasingly rare.
