just play adventure mode and socket a weapon with a marquis+ ruby. You can play hammerdin like it's d2 free levels etc while collecting shards/bounties etc

except you can't throw as many hammers as in d2

And lets bbe honest, the hdin was op ONLY because there wasnt monster imm to magic. Oh and add enigma that added the mobility that a stand still aoe caster need.

hammerdins would have been the strongest class even if enigma didn't exist. Having a single monster in the game immune to magic(later patch to 2 monsters) made them ridiculously op for baal/sanctuary runs.
