Canucks are so much better on 5v5, the problem is the special teams. Can't score on the PP and can't PK gg lmao!

Meanwhile, Brown is coaching the ducks to top powerplay in the league. So it's proof that it's not really a coaching issue, but more on the players unable to execute.

the PP has always been suspect, but the PK leaned pretty heavily on Beagle/Sutter winning faceoffs. Now that we aren't getting the puck consistently it's being exposed hard.

yep, losing beagle was huge. He was huge part of the PK group and for the faceoffs, which allowed far more favorable faceoff deployments for both horvat/miller. They don't have Beagle to rely on anymore to take the tough draws since there isn't anyone else that can reliably take the harder draws and win more than lose. Either Green is forced to overplay horvat/miller just for the sake of winning a crucial draw, or go with puck battles after losing a draw.

Hopefully PK gets better with Motte and Sutter, but they missed a lot of time, and idk the longer the special teams suck shit the canucks will keep losing from that difference. At least their 5v5 game seems more legit

OEL defensive game is back to elite, but his offense took a huge dive. I guess it's the new system they're workin on, but he always performed on the powerplay to make up for it. Doesn't seem the case this season. Also Schmidt has like 9 assists in 11 games? I guess when you're forced to be the team's shutdown pairing, it's hard to have anything in the tank to try carry the offense too. Funny how the best canuck players so far have been Garland and OEL, and rest of the canucks are playing like they just got traded to arizona

Green's systems suck the life out of any offense.

Every player that comes here gradually gets worse offensively.

I think it's shaw's system, format is similar to cbj and greens offense wasnt much of a problem before, it was the defense that was always shit. However offense has never been as bad as this season. They're Much better defensively cuz now we got 4 in the back and only 1 upfront, with the same Demkogodtending. If only their special teams can perform above average... Rip

With shit special teams like they are, we are well below average.

With decent special teams, we're just an average team.

I don't know what some people are watching thinking we've been good 5-on-5. I don't see that, and the game-by-game numbers has us on the wrong side on shots and chances in most games this season. We were okay yesterday and good vs Rangers but not much outside of that.

And imagine if we didn't have a god in net lol. Even Halak has been fine in his 2 games, we have a team .920 which is very good.

Pettersson has been so frustrating to watch. I'm just hoping there's no larger off-ice issue bothering him.

5on5 was horrible, but since the Philly game I think green adapted to shaw's system. I think they haven't allowed a 5v5 since the Philly's game to last night's game. All the difference was from special teams. That includes against Edmonton, losing to them by only 1 and they scored 2 pp goals, instead of a blow out. Also not seeing much of other teams having 35+ sog and Canucks having like 20. Basically the defense is shit, but it's overall much better than before especially thx to Demko, but the cost is no more 3+ goals a game from the nucks til they figure out how to score with this new system. The special team is so bad, it's hard to believe considering the players on the units
