just can't get excited like you are Secksii.
Podz doesn't look NHL ready yet. the drive is there, not the skill or ability to think at NHL speed yet. needs 1-2 years to grow still. Can't expect him to transform the top 9, he'll struggle if he stays. Hogs also looking like he's on a sophomore slump, although that could've been just using the preseason to catch up.
OEL should do fine as the top minute eater for now but good lord Myers is going to drag him down so hard.
we have a litany of straight scrubs too - at least not as overpaid, but still... Schenn, Highmore, Giuseppe, Downling would all struggle to make any other lineup. Petan is simply not an NHL player and I don't know why he keeps getting chances around the league. Chiasson is the only one of the bunch who looks like he can provide wins above replacement.
Then the core is still raw to an extent, and aren't always reliable themselves... Miller with his rage-passes to create meaningless turnovers, streaky Petey who can't buy a goal suddenly, Demko can't always be god and Hughes typical turnover machine who's a cut or two below the league's top young D-men (poor Poolman)... they can go deep but need a strong supporting cast, and they don't have that. most of the rest are trying to not collapse around themselves.
Rathbone seized his chance to secure a spot at least, but that's just a small dim in a sea of darkness.
oh yeah - a few injuries and like 1/3 of the roster will be AHL caliber. zero organizational depth if the infirmary gets busy and straight to fighting for a lottery spot.
same old shit - core tasked to score as many goals as possible to make up for anchors dragging everyone else down, and pray goaltending holds up. I don't trust Green one bit to salvage the roster.
Pod didn't stand out much start of camp/scrims, but the last 4 games he was the only one that stood out with Lockwood imo. He's not gonna be scoring much points, but he will definitely be making a huge difference out there. There are so many times he won board battles or retrieved the puck and just kept setting up his line mates. The problem is the same as in KHL, his teammates just couldn't finish. Yesterday pods made a nice stretch pass to Petey and set him up for a breakaway, but he missed the net. My most worry is Garland, he seems like there's no identity for him on the team. I think Green tries way too much at the last bit of pre season to see what works and doesn't, so these players never find any chemistry, especially if they're new players.
On paper, OEL - Myers looks like a disaster, but at least from yesterday's game it surprisingly seemed to work. I prefer poolman with OEL, but with Hamonic situation and lack or RHD options, i think Green will have to go with OEL - Myers, and Hughes - Poolman. The 3rd pairing is gonna be extremely questionable.
PK is another huge problem with this team, basically with hamonic, sutter and motte out, our best PK player options are OEL, Poolman or Myers.... I dont even wanna talk about the forward Pk lol.
PP still looks terrible, i guess brown wasn't the problem. It's still early in the season for King to adjust but damn it's not looking good at all. I still don't understand how they're making Hughes play with the setup where the players are stationary and not moving... it's like handicapping your own player. He should try OEL on the pp1 cuz his passes are crisp and accurate for Petey to blast bombs. Hughes on the pp2 might work better since the players there aren't as stationary and actually moves around and compliments/benefits from Hughes skating.
I think Miller needs to be put with Petey, his game was simple in the first year where he found the most success... just get the puck to Petey. Right now, i think Miller is trying to do too fucking much and continuing to show all the bad shit he did from last season when he was forced to play C with Petey out. It sounds nice if he's centering another line to create more depth upfront, but the amount of turnovers and shit he does is not worth it.
I actually like Giuseppe, he has been a solid bottom 6 player so far in the NHL and continues to show that even on the Canucks. Dependable, wins battles, even his point per game is pretty good for a 4th liner. Chiasson is alright too, seems like we want him cuz he's big and doesn't mind playing up front screening goalies. But that's about the only notable asset, maybe even PK option imo. The rest of the players you listed i don't really care for either, they're meh.
I heard rumors that canucks are trying to trade juolevi, I guess he's done with the Canucks. I doubt the Canucks get much in return cuz he's obviously going to be waived and a team can get him free without giving up anything. Pretty funny how he was the most reliable, dependable, safe pick among the 4d available in the 1st round his draft year, yet he's the biggest bust. Chychurun, sergachev, McAvoy all exceeded him by far, despite being the riskier picks. Lmao
