dats+zberg were 1-2 in points for the wings dats is leaving zetters 35
beyond the ur best palyers are like tatar and nyquist i mean i dont think thats super appealing to stamkos

you guys are possibly stuck with howard who you dont seem to want and is maknig big $$
you need to move dats contract to even be able to run at stamkos and thats going to cost u even more depth

why would stammer want to go to the wings? there in a really shitty spot right now

The story I've been hearing is that Stamkos will be close to home and not have to be inundated by Toronto taxes. Also he'll be the clear 1C whereas he's been funneled into a winger role in Tampa (even though he's 2nd or 3rd on the team in faceoffs). If he comes on board it meets a BIG gap they've got, and might put them back in contention if they do something with the defense in addition.
It makes sense, and if they trade Datsyuk's contract there's money there to make it happen. But like I said, not trying to get too excited.

Holland is also trying hard to move Howard.

u have to likely pay a prospect+pick to move the dats contract
and to move howard u gotta compete with other teams selling goalies
pens likely have fleury up for grabs flyers might have mason or neuvirth stars prob wanna move niemi or lehtonen


it wont be easy and if u do manage to sign stamkos not like u have more cap to improve beyond that really unless u move howard
i dont see it as a practical move overpay a star player when your team lacks depth and cap space
and a star player to go to a team thats got a questionable future just so he can save $$ on taxes?

sounds like a fairly tale ending in the perfect world

like this goes back to him wanting to play near home but he doesnt wanna go to the leafs

Hey, I'm not saying it's happening. But I'd pay Pulk/Jurco + 2nd + Sproul/Ouellet/Marchenko to land Stamkos, and it sounds like that's the price. Dealing Howard is a matter of retaining $1.3m salary, at $4m anyone will take him.

It's possible. I'm as skeptical as you though.

i almost feel like you guys would be better off going after stepan or something
gives you a good center and a lot cheaper then stamkos which allows you to get some wingers for him through FA or what not
once zetterbergs gone u guys have like tatar and nyquist unless mantha jumps into a top 6 role the wings wings are looking fairly weak

i know if i was stamkos and see your top winger is 35 and you have 2 young 40 pt wingers next in line id be like pass

Zetterberg is a center. He centered Larkin and Abdelkader most of the year. Richards was supposed to be 2C, Sheahan is expected to step into that role and did several times while Richards and others were injured. Mantha will be a top-6 winger and Larkin/Athanasiou will be top-6 centers once they develop and also while Stamkos is still in his prime. Bertuzzi is a fantastic bottom-6 who might end up top-6.

Wings are not struggling for forwards in any position except center, which is what Stamkos would fill.

Larkin was Z's wing. Z was a wing when Datsyuk was his center. It's... weird.

2zzi has been continually compared to Shaw, which is where the bottom 6 comparison comes into play.

But you're suppose to pay us a solid bit for shattenkirk
