The United States outbreak has by far been the most alarming.

Their trajectory has shot straight up.

Would not be surprised if that is what ends up happening.

Keep in mind though we can not fully gauge the severity.

I still believe way more people in China died than is being reported.

China was literally nailing doors in to enforce the quarantine, I have no doubt there were quite a few people who died without ever being able to get medical attention and therefore weren't officially counted in the death toll.

The situation in the US is also scary as fuck because there's seemingly little coordination. Corporations are probably making a killing making on-demand medical equipment, Trump keeps waffling between taking action and downplaying the seriousness, and people sick with coronavirus are only off the hook for the test, not the treatment (which is way more expensive). So you'll probably have people going around and still working even if they have coronavirus because otherwise they won't be able to pay bills and will literally die of poverty.

This is why I think the nation will suffer to a far greater extent than they rest of the developed countries. It is pathetic they do not have universal health care.

I bitch at times that I pay too much taxes one way or the other but I am willing to put up with it because I know if I get sick I will be taken care of (to an extent) without leaving the hospital with a six, or maybe even seven figure hospital bill.

That is a death sentence in itself. Imagine working your entire life and losing it all because you got sick. Leaving family members with nothing despite working your ass off.... Fuck that.

eh for most people, you don't even pay more taxes if not the other way. even when comparing with a no income tax state like Washington I'd take home maybe 2-3% more and I'm solidly white collar middle class.

Who can the drugs be used to treat? The authorization is limited to patients who are currently hospitalized and weigh at least 50kg, or about 110 pounds. Under the emergency use authorization, health care providers must contact their local or state health department to access the drugs.
