DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings are trying to re-sign two of their impending unrestricted free agents, having made offers to forwards Darren Helm and Drew Miller.

A deal with Miller could be completed soon but the Red Wings likely will be waiting a few weeks before Helm decides.

-------

CSN NE reporting Colorado has offered Duchene for Trouba.

Jets don't really need a center, though, and would have to add to make it even.

-------

Canucks reporter, for some reason, is saying that Hamonic still wants to be traded despite publicly rescinding his request.

Don't how he would have any sources on this but he is a senior reporter and usually doesn't report rumors.

Jets could use a good center actually.. They have Scheifele who imo is gonna turn into one of the best center in the league, but after that they're pretty thin. Right now they have Little but by the time their window open he's gonna be 34-35 years old so ideally you don't want to rely as a 2nd center. After that there's Petan and Lowry I guess.. But I doubt they turn into good 2nd line center. They're stacked on wing though, with Ehlers, Connor, Laine/Pulju, Dano, Armia, etc..

But yeah, trading a right D for a center make sense.. but I would rather the Jets to keep Trouba. Would rather trade Myers instead, even thought he would definately fletch a worse return than Trouba.

Little is only 28.5. He likely has 3-4 good years left, at least.

If their window is going to start opening when he turns 34-35 well... that's a long ass rebuild :P

LOL my bad, I was sure he was 30. Got confused with Wheeler & Ladd who are both 30.

Well yeah Little will probably still be a fine player in 3-4 years but my point that they could use another young center to compliment the young wingers still stand ^_^

I think they're pretty equal right now but in 3-4 years it's gonna be Duchene by a landslide yeah.

I'm fine with Miller if they can get him on another deal for $1m or a hair over. He's still an excellent 4th liner and without him the 4th line's possession numbers were brutal, even adjusting for the fact that they were used defensively.
Helm can hit the road though. Sounds like he's asking for 5m which means he'll settle on 4-4.5 somewhere. Great speed, but stone hands and he's redundant.

Also Little is not a long-term solution for the Jets. If they can get someone like Duchene they should.
