Friedman on questionable Team USA WC decisions (paraphrasing from M vs. W podcast):

- USA team in Sochi was said to be very cliquey so certain players were left off to combat that
- Kessel admittedly doesn't work out much in the summer so they were worried about what kind of shape he would be in come the tourney in September
- Jack Johnson was probably included because of his connections: Torts is his NHL coach, Lombardi is his former NHL GM and Burke appreciates his international resume

Coyotes might get a 2nd round pick (53rd overall) because they couldn't sign 1st round pick Bleackley (who went 23rd overall).

He was the centerpiece (from Colorado) in the Boedker trade at the deadline.

Didn't know you could get compensation even if you weren't the team that drafted the player.

"The deadline for Bleackley to sign a contract was Wednesday. As a result, Bleackley is eligible for the 2016 draft and the Coyotes will receive a 2016 supplemental second-round draft pick. The Coyotes now have eight picks in the draft, including two each in the first and second rounds."

“But there’s a fine line between development and playing to win. We’re going to sit down over the next two weeks as a group and discuss this. We had a great season, but we’re still in our infancy. We’re going to get younger, yet. Bigger and faster. I’d like to bring back one of them, but if we can’t find a way to make it work, that could happen.”

Nill wouldn’t comment, but the suspicion is Goligoski is the target. We’ll see.

They might let Demers go because Johns has emerged as a solid bottom-4 RD. He and Yandle are the two good UFA D-men this summer.

That leaves one of the left-handers, Goligoski and Russell, to re-sign and I assume they'll choose Goalagainstski.

Russell will enter free-agency and get paid by some retarded team that will probably be the Canucks.

"CLB will not give up its second-round pick to VAN for hiring John Tortorella. Still have two more years to do it."

I'm sure not signing Bleackley was a conscious decision by the Coyotes he has not been very good since being drafted (and even had the captaincy revoked). When Colorado traded him, they were effectively trading a second round pick.
