As we know Hughes struggled heavily defensively in his first 15 games when the canucks looked like a joke, now with the team getting more practice in and figuring shit out he's much better. Last game he played 30min lmao, he hogged almost the entire OT

^ This team obviously wasn't as bad as they showed in the first few weeks, it was like every player turned into Pouliot when it came to their defensive awareness and turnovers.

We're average based on our roster on paper, and we'll probably end up somewhere around .500 at the end barring a complete carry to the playoffs by Demko. Next year won't be much different.

some fans got their wish, Sutter, Beagle and Roussel not at practice. Drance says it's not protocol either, so not covid related.
Roussel probably out from that boarding hit by romanov, Sutter also got hurt last game. Beagle maybe maintenance day? Though he's known for crazy work ethic so unless he's hurt, i dont see why he would take the day off.

If Sutter and Beagle are both out, that's real bad news for Horvat. He's gonna be abused even harder for the tough deployments since Beagle isn't there to do the other half while he's resting. Looks like Gaudette and MacEwen are gonna have to learn asap

Gaudette being asked to be a defensive center..... That is a BIG ask.

I don't think he can do it lol. He already has the worst +/- amongst forwards and is not even given the tough matchups.


Maybe this is a long term plan for the rest of the season. If coaching, management and ownership believe the playoffs are out of reach (which realistically they pretty much are) Why not try out some of the youngsters to see what they are made of.

Beagle and Sutter will soon be gone anyways, so replacements need to be groomed.

They're grooming Lind since gaudette seems like a failed C experiment.
I'm hoping Benning does not bring Sutter back, even if it means to use the younger guys to 3c/4c. Beagle alone is enough, and when his contract expires, hopefully Lind is ready or someone else cheaper.
