6x4 would be great for Backes. 5+ years wouldn't be bad, just risky. He's a complete veteran with leadership qualities.

Keep in mind on a 5-6 year contract, $6m will have a similar effect to $4m by the end of the contract. Backes is Doan-like and Doan is worth every penny.

Brouwer is pretty damn good.

One of my favourite underrated player. I would give him 3 years at at around 4.5 - 5M.

Brouwer is probably worth $5m short term but I sure wouldn't want it to be my team that signs him he's 30, probably looking for a 6-8 year contract and I don't know that he has that longevity.

Great PP2 trigger man and if you have money to spend he's a character guy. If I'm Nashville, NYI or Ottawa I'd be taking a look at him to fill holes on the front end.
