Miller is playing like a fucking asshole. Only way to describe it.

No clue what happened with him.....

He was an elite two way forward and now it has gone to shit.

Hell he used to drive the line..... I don't know how a player can regress this quickly when he is off prime age.

I know he is still close to a point a game player but he is a shadow of what he once was.

Boeser took a huge step forward in terms of his play without the puck only to have Miller regress.

Imagine if Petey and Miller were playing at last years level combined with Brock Boeser's improvement.

Spending 2.5M or whatever on Virt when you needed every single dollar available to sign other players that are actually valuable to the team is just another feather in Benning's dunce cap.

I am a broken record but I will say it again..... Virtanen drives me up the wall.

6'1 225.... Excellent skater, strong and skilled. Dumb as a rock though.... and cant play without the puck well enough to be an effective role player.

He does not fit with this team even though I really wish he did.

He is what he is. He's made it through the ranks simply based on his natural talent and physical tools.

But now he's in the NHL where the competition is just way too high for just that to be good enough.

Look at the way Hoglander plays like a dog on a bone; imagine Virtanen had that much drive and effort.

He'll tantalize you once in a while with a strong PWF move or nice shot but the simple fact is he doesn't know how nor does he try to make opportunities for himself.

Yeah I think Benning thought the lotto line would be least of his worries. Turns out its one of the biggest problem within the team lol.
D significantly improved from last season, even though team record shows otherwise. Imagine telling a non hockey fan that the Canucks has a rookie that's consistent on nightly basis, 2nd in rookie scoring, boeser who improved his complete game and got his rookie shot back and is leading the team, Miller is struggling af, but still close to ppg player, Petey the best player in the team is not meeting his standards, edler has the best analytic stats despite being the oldest dman etc. They won't guess the teams like a bottom feeder like Sens haha
Hopefully it's the covid changes that fucked with Miller, or its just a write off season for him and he comes back next season

How do you figure?

Really the only thing that changed is Schmidt in and Tanev out.

Now, in a vacuum, Schmidt is a clear upgrade but when you consider the role Tanev played with the team, being the perfect partner for Hughes both on and off the ice, I don't know how large that gap is.

If Benning worked that cap so that he could retain Tanev and make that same trade for Schmidt, that would have been a big upgrade:

Hughes - Tanev
Edler - Schmidt
Whoever - Myers

https://www.vancouverisawesome.com/canucks-hockey/edler-and-schmidt-are-one-of-the-nhls-best-defence-pairings-canucks-from-porous-to-stingy-3443346

well for starters, edler/Schmidt is one of the best shutdown pairing in the NHL, playing against the best/elite competition and edler is having the most success with him in his career, higher than playing with the sedins in his prime.
tanev is gone, time to move on lol, hes helping hanafin a lot more than he did hughes. Benn is no tanev, but he has been showing better results with hughes rn, than tanev/hughes combo from last season.
i would not want tanny for the next 4 years for that contract either
myers made juolevi look like an NHLer, looks like they figured out their roles and they're both looking a lot better than ever

i think a lot of people are downplaying how much of a huge upgrade schmidt is to tanev, despite schmidt not having the same pt output which is expected going from vegas to lolnucks. Even if he doesn't put up the points, he's still a huge upgrade over tanev because of his mobility and ability to get the puck out. Being one of the best shutdown pairing in the NHL with Schmidt currently trolling and struggling, think about that for a minute lol. While Tanev goes to a better team, & made hanafin better, it still didn't stop his team getting steamrolled by the canucks and oilers

Welp another game the Canucks gave away. At least they managed to get 1pt off Morrisseys bad delay of game 0enalty lol. Miller again directly responsible for 2 goals against, Holtby made some markstrom like saves to keep the Canucks in the game. Too bad the team couldn't let him get the win though.

y u guys break markstrom??

can't be more dogshit than the canucks, they can't seem to decide what they wanna do anymore

first 15 games look like absolute shitshow clown feista without much practice
last few games they look like a good team, outplaying other teams np, but it seems like they're trying to find ways to lose cuz that's what they're suppose to do now apparently
