in the surgeon's defense, they really do the best they can, it was probably a high risk procedure, always have to weight the potential risks vs benefits

but anyways, really hope things turn out for the best

They are never spouse to make mistakes. They happen, but you can't put it off as saying it was risky. Even if it's high risk, you can't go in and say to the person getting surgery after you screw up that it was a risk. You screwed up and you shouldn't have. Never make mistakes.

My future father in law is a Surgeon and hes said before that he made a mistake about 15 years ago and said to himself if he ever made a mistake because his hand wasn't steady enough he would quit being a surgeon.

i can see where you're coming from, but things happen, procedures don't always go as planned.

I meant like surgeons who screw up because they didn't have a steady hand. Theres always unforseen things, but knicking something you shouldn't is unacceptable.

OT note, but related. My fiancees father got all his medical training paid for by the Canadian Forces. He actually picked that and served with them instead of just going to Medical School after University since he knew he wanted to be a surgeon and the military training helps with steadying your hand, other things as well. He can hold out his hand and not have it move at all, credits being able to keep his steady hand a lot to the military training and he advocates potential surgeons in medical school to enlist and get training because of how much it helps.
