It will be nowhere near as big of a mess it is in Calgary for example...
in 3 years the team can rebound and make the playoffs routinely if the current team falters.
Like you said we have some good young pieces, so the transition will not be as painful.
Calgary's is a mess because of their management. We don't know how MG will handle a rebuild 'cause he's never been in that situation.
There's a chance he goes the toronto/calgary route and doesn't accept that the team needs a full rebuild lol. That's when trouble arises.

Doesn't make too much sense considering they are in top physical shape all the time (they are known for their conditioning) and their game is based on skill and not at all on speed.
Obviously they aren't as good as him, but a good comparison is Lidstrom; he was able to play at an elite level until 40 because his game was never based on speed or physicality.
