I guess I think about cars in a different way, since I work on them and build them ect.

they are consumables to me if it brakes fix it, I couldn't give a shit less about what it looks like as long as it works.

also if the rear end gets bent, Ill just cut it off and back half it and put shocks on it and sell it as a prerunner lol

Definitely a different way. I also definitely would not work on my own cars for major work. I wouldn't even change the tires on the truck or Porsche. I'll detail them, that's about it.

I'm always thinking about the money. There was nicer houses I thought for cheaper than what I paid for my house, but I bought the house I'm currently in because it's in a neighbourhood that will see a massive rise in property values. And I'm right, almost $50,000 rise in less than four years. If my car drops more in value than I think it should I don't like it.

I care more about the principle.  I've never gotten tailgated under the limit. It's always the asshole who thinks 10 over just isn't fast enough. Or it's the guy who thinks tailgating you is gonna make the guy in front of you go faster.

In the end they make you feel unsafe so they can get where they're going 45 seconds faster.

It's worse when they're on the verge of road rage because you won't move.

Surely there's so things you can't do. Paint, major body work, etc.

I have/can/do paint things in my shop, and I can do body work as long as the panels are worth saving lol

A legitimate paint job that would be akin to what a bodyshop does?

Getting the correct paint would be a bigger hassle than actually painting the car itself. If you have the tools and the skill, it's not that bad.

Rebuilding small parts like an alternator is probably much more annoying than repainting a car as well.
I'd assume rebuilding an engine (or taking apart and fixing, which is essentially a rebuild) is harder than painting a car too.

Also Koj, he's talking about a high end glossy paint job, not just a cheap spray. But I assume you knew this.

I mean like a paint job a bodyshop would do if you needed work done. Painting a car right requires the right paint, the right room, and the right person. I have enough friends who work at dealerships to understand their frustration when the bodyshop screws up.
