what exactly did you guys go for? maybe if you went for something minor you feel that way
i know pretty much everybody ive ever known to go has had positive to say about the results but its mostly for back/neck

if you went for your knee maybe they werent as helpful asa somebody with back or neck issues?

or maybe you guys out west just got some crappy chiropractors that overcharge out the ass or something

Naw drago. Chiros do more harm than good. Once you go, you'll have to continue going for ever to get adjusted.
Not to mention they can easily kill ya!

"according to a study published in the October 8, 1998, New England Journal of Medicine, spinal manipulation may be no more effective than physical therapy in the treatment of back pain and only marginally more effective than following a self-help instruction booklet."

What dirtyman said, go to a physio and stretch, core exercises, posture. Going to see a guy to crack you gives some temporary relief, but does nothing for you long term.

he knows more about your back than anyone though
and they are allowed to suggest proper stretching and exercising that fit your needs (and he'll know the best ones) its in his/her scope of work

plus he'll have the x rays and not only that but he'll have had hands on and can tell how you're doing and what you need to focus on.

Chiro is a scam

I have multiple injuries to my neck and shoulders, multiple incidents through sports and work. I am left with several compressed vertebrae in my neck and ribs that pop out of place in between my shoulder blades.

I went to 3 different physios over the course of a year to alleviate my issues. 2/3 actually made it far worse and forced me out of the gym, out of hockey, off the snowboard and had me taking pain pills. (The pills were prescribed by my doctor as I couldn't lift myself out of bed)

I went to my chiropractor for a month, in which he made dozens of adjustments which in turn freed up my neck and has allowed me to start working out and playing hockey again, something no other healthcare professional could do after 3 years of being injured. (3 years of varying providers not just physios)

Anyone who tells me that a chiropractor does nothing clearly does not have all the information.

That's good. The good stuff seems to be pretty circumstantial, but sometimes it'll work out. They have never done anything worthwhile for me, and I went to 2 bad physios this year till I found a good one too, so maybe your guy is good. Still skeptical of those guys though.

Yea it's fair to be skeptical, I was myself, I went to him for years prior to my injury and thought he would only make it worse so going to him was a last resort, and it worked out incredibly well.

I think you're right about finding a good one though, that's the shitty part about these healthcare providers, a lot of them don't have natural talent in it, they've just done the schooling and assume they are professionals because they passed.

For the majority of the population corrective exercises, fixing muscular imbalances and correcting posture will be far more effective than chiro ever will. Of course there are exceptions.

I think Chiros are really one of those professions where there are good ones and terrible ones. Just cracking someones back isnt going to provide long term relief because you arent addressing the root cause of the issue which I think is what most anti-chiro people are saying. However, if you find a chiro who can provide treatment along with exercises to strength, improve mobility, stretch muscles, etc. then it's a completely different scenario.
