I'm jealous you guys have so many fans to talk nucks with

I miss my buddy Tom Wilson to talk blues 😢

It's okay, you can ditch your team and convert hehe

Our bottom 6 is horrific and one injury to the blueline will destroy it.
.

The blue line is still a huge improvement compared to last season, tanev out, Hamonic in, stecher out, Schmidt in. Fatenberg out, juolevi in.
Still have chatfield if Hamonic gets hurt, he's pretty much tanev 2.0

Bottom 6 is still bad, but at least the sheltered gaudette line produced well. Problem is if Sutter can outperform beagles role.. Cuz he hasn't despite being younger lol. I feel like green is trying to give gaudette more responsibility to his line so they don't have to use beagle to shelter him, cuz gaudette was exposed af in playoffs.

The biggest factor would be the loss of markstrom. Can Demko maintain his godlike status? Or become decent but not good enough to hold the fort prior to season suspension? Can Holtby bounce back to elite goaltender status working with Ian Clark?

I love how Hoglander is 5'8/5'9 but weighs 185. With a frame like that he is going to be great in the corners and it'l be hard for the opposition to knock him off the puck.

Yeah, they say he's built like a fire hydrant. Apparently green and horvat was more impressed by the fact that he can outmuscle and win board battles against vets that are bigger, stronger and older than him. Nvm the impressive skill and speed to his game.
“His smarts and willingness to get places and do the dirty work is a testament to his personality and character,” Horvat said.
Even Miller was astonished, he is definitely making the roster. I hope he stays consistent and establishes himself as horvat winger throughout the season

Schmidt is big but Edler will likely decline and Hamonic feels like a huge question mark considering he didn't even get a guaranteed contract. And who knows if Juolevi can hang at the NHL level. All our hopes hinging on Hughes and Schmidt staying healthy and playing to potential.

Hamonic wanted to stay in Western Canada, no where else. He's on PTO so that the Canucks can maximize their ltir with Ferland being put there once season starts. If Hughes can make declining tanev into a 20pt shutdown dman, Hamonic shouldn't have issues either considering he was darn good for lolflames in 18/19. Nonetheless, hes huge for pk and depth.

Edler wasnt showing any signs of declining last season, he was actually insane before he got hurt. Just gotta hope he continues that. Maybe the long break may effect him, but he hasn't shown any decline yet. Also with Schmidt taking over pp from edler, he will have more rest and managed toi.

Juolevi has been solid in camp. His next step to improve is nhl experience, he makes big plays without looking flashy. All I can ask for atm. His feet is quick enough to defend against NHL players, he made a clever stick check on Miller and broke up a 4on2 chance with only juolevi as the dman back, and rekt the dominant lotto line and edler. His positioning and on ice iq is great, as long as he stays steady he will be an upgrade over fatenberg imo.

Will petterson take draws this year or is that never happening for some reason?
I assume they will let him eventually, yeah?

idk, it's tough to stop letting #2 best faceoff taker in the league so that petey can develop. He was a winger before converting to centre for the NHL, so it's probably gonna take a bit of time
then again... green has beagle out of the roster over sutter for now, and beags was #3 just .1% behind miller on the dot.

Scrim was on stream/TV today.

Motte was going hard today, he slew foot gaudette then knocked his stick away after. They dropped the mitts lol he injured Jay apparently, also slew foot..

Edler and Schmidt pairing is legit, edler seems comfortable and confident with Schmidt as his partner. He's making a lot of backdoor plays and tape to tape passes with Schmidt. They're controlling the blue line really well, they'll probably be the shutdown pairing this season. Hughes will probably have a better time since he won't be relied upon as much defensively. That's 2 really good pairs that can control the backend, something the Canucks lacked for ages.

Hughes beat Petey like he said he would from last mic check video ahaha

Both goalies played well, Petey won it through shootout as the lone scorer.

Juolevi made some insane saucer passes through everybody, like holy fuck he's hacking. He's like tanev though, rarely stands out and stays invisible but in a good way, cuz no mistakes and just good solid hockey.

Virtanen looked good, hopefully he takes it to the next level this season. He's been good, the problem was inconsistency. If he stays consistent this season, holy.

Hoglander looks legit, as if he has been playing with horvat and Pearson for years. He hasn't even played a single NHL game yet lol.

Highlights for the scrim

2-1 Blue wins through shootout

I just noticed that there was so many 88 on the Canucks.. lol first Tryamkin, Gaudette, now Schmidt haha
All of sudden the Canucks D depth is looking fine, Tryamkin can also join after their KHL is over.

Motte and Gaudette got into a bit of a scrap during a recent scrimmage.

https://www.vancouverisawesome.com/canucks-hockey/adam-gaudette-and-tyler-motte-fight-at-canucks-training-camp-scrimmage-3248451?fbclid=IwAR0Fejdw4OI4CQxBF4fUo_z0tt3YFtpK4Kk9cHCMbzoTUwEAgNsqb1RQ_SQ

Questionable play from Motte was the lead up to the altercation.

Pretty tense for some of the guys on the bottom 6. A very competitive camp will undoubtedly push a veteran or two of the main roster.
