So the athletics confirmed with Canucks org and Ferlands agent that they will release a statement about Ferland in the future.

However, unofficially for now this is what drance reports

Ferland isn’t expected to be able to compete in a 2021 campaign, meaning he’ll likely be placed on LTI, and that opens up some flexibility for the Canucks to spend over the upper limit of the salary cap by the full amount of Ferland’s $3.5 million cap hit.

Good for the team and Ferlands life. Bad news for his career.

With the cap relief, I hope they sign Hamonic to offset the loss by tanev and add more depth to the backend.

KHL is obviously played at a lower skill level on a larger rink but it's still the #2 league in the world ffs, it's a destination not only for top Russian talent but also other Europeans and North Americans. In a sport with relatively few leagues that pay good money, it's fucking braindead to suggest the next best thing to the NHL is made up of lazy coasters. most hockey pros would do terrible things for a 6-figure paycheck.

I think it's more about being on a stacked team, and the vets don't like it when a hungry kid is making them look bad by not going 110% like he does every shift. I just want him over here to develop asap, he seems too out of place in the KHL with all the politics.
