This makes me feel better. Been some tough choices but its better to let guys go if they are getting the big money/term contracts elsewhere.
yeah doesnt make sense for our team atm to give out term to aging players.
It's set up perfectly for 2022 season to compete, as all anchor contracts and lu penalty are gone, with Hughes/Petey locked up and rest of the core locked up for another year.
If Canucks get Barrie on short term, im assuming 2 years since that seems to be the plan. it's not too bad imo im still expecting to regress but not by much
Miller - Petey - Boeser
Pearson - Horvat - Ferland/Leivo
Roussel - Gaudette - Virtanen/MacEwen
Motte - Beagle - Sutter
Hughes - Myers
Edler - Barrie
Benn/Juolevi - Chatfield (juolevi and chatfield meshed well together in the AHL)
Holtby/Demko
Our biggest problem last season was no one was able to help Hughes bring the puck out of their zone with ease,
Barrie would help , and edler is still reliable and a glue to our d core.
dont forget Myers and Hughes had the best performance with each other last season, but Green had to break em up to make Tanev more useful and balance the minutes.

Hughes become extremely good when playing with Myers, and Myers also makes most of his teammates better when he's on the ice.
He only makes the bottom 6 and players like benn do worse but that's expected as Green deployed him the most against elite competition last season.
