can't give up goals on the break if you're always pinned in your own zone

i think they were trying to play neutral zone shutdown against the knights but mostly got pushed back - but it still worked in the end

hopefully green can further adjust

( the first 30 minutes was nothing but chippy run and gun though)

Nice, looks like Vegas is finished. Who will the Canucks play next? Dallas or colorado?

Come on guise answer

I'm getting a dejavu...

Starter goalie from florida...
A promising american goalie from ncaa...

Are the Canucks going to lose both soon?!

Hughes sets a new NHL record as having most assist as a rookie in playoffs.

Also, damn that marchessault fella is dirty as fuck. Is it the bubble getting to him? Like that 2 hand slash behind pettersson's knee is absolutely insane, it's fucking 2020 and that's still allowed in NHL? He only gets 2min for it, now imagine if rousell did the same thing to patches or stone, I am confident he would get 5min major penalty, misconduct, fined and suspended. Absolutely disgusting.

the expansion draft sucks ass because the correct decision would be to keep both until Demko gets his big raise, then make a choice. now Benning's choice is to either let Marky walk or trade Demko, before really knowing if Demko's really a keeper.

It's gonna be a tough decision for sure.

Demko showed that he wasn't quite ready yet to take the starter role when the Canucks seemed like they were gonna miss the playoffs after markstrom went down in spring. However after tonight's game, he showed that he definitely has potential for the future. Now the decision will be more tough if demko steals another game. It would be awesome if markstrom takes a huge paycut and signs for like 2x5m but I don't see that happening as he deserves much more term and pay since he's already 30.

Shitty how lu's penalty of 3m cap hurts so bad, I find it ridiculous that the league was completely fine with it until other teams abused it much more and they decided to punish them AND the Canucks after the fact. Ofc canucks are the first casualty of it, while those teams most likely won't be penalized at all, rather the league even adjusted it just in case so that they won't get shit on by insane cap penalty as intended and lessen the punishment.

One game doesn't make a career. The jury is still out on Demko but things are looking promising. Having one amazing game is nice but these one-offs happen. If he can be consistent in these performances then he's going to be worth it

true that, but if we lose tomorrow that coulda been the last time we've seen him in a Canucks jersey.

I don't think Benning will let markstrom go, even if demko wins tomorrow, or better yet wins the series against the Knights.

If markstrom goes, that means Benning is going all in with the hopes that demko will deliver results through the grind in regular season. Otherwise the team will be stalled, looking for another goaltender, in hopes he can match markstroms performance or be better...for cheaper than his current ask.

Markstrom by far has the most high danger saves in this playoff during 5v5. He also has the highest save % for high danger saves as well, which is the biggest reason canucks are still hanging on. In 5v5, markstrom had to make 370 saves, the next goalie is hart with 280 with just 2 less games. Now if you ignore 5v5, and account for all situations, markstrom leads with 490 saves in just 14 games. This is also taking into the fact that canucks are blocking like 20+ a game lol...

Vasil is next with 420 saves, despite playing 70min more due to overtime, that's basically 1 full game and 10min on top which makes his game played equal to markstrom. All while having much less higher danger chances against him than markstrom

Canucks defense is atrocious, but at least they came a long way compared to the past when they had a bunch of ahlers, borderline nhlers, etc. It still needs a lot of work to glue the backend, especially with edler aging and uncertain future with tanev. I don't think Benning should create a hole and question mark on his goalies. He should be now trying to find ways to hole up the patches. I'd only release markstrom.. If he injured that knee again and it's going to hinder for the rest of years to come... But no one knows so

So this is fuckin' crazy. The fact that he did it twice is absolutely bonkers.

You know what's retarded? That we're going to lose him to Seattle for nothing at all. Goddamn.
