people want news media to be fair and impartial yet they don't like it when news that challenged their beliefs are published. they want stories to be easily digestible but also want all of the details. they want media to be sensible but they also want it to hold back no punches. they want the truth to be reported as it is but they also want news to be less "boring" or not so "negative".

nowadays you can have journalists risking their lives to uncover some nasty truth or pouring their hearts out to put out well-researched content, and all it takes for all of it to be ignored is a couple of mouthbreathing keyboard warriors who wouldn't know what to write in their neighborhood newspaper crying "fake news!" or "biased!". and the sheeple who don't know any better weight the painstaking work the same as the uneducated drivel.
