He's shit the bed several times when we had our very best chaces to win the Cup. Nobody is above criticism. His arrogant attitude, post play off games, is pretty annoying too. "I woulda made that save" blah blah blah

you never would have fucking came close to the playoffs, let alone the SCF without Luongo.

Ungrateful fans ... he's been a fantastic goaltender for Vancouver, and he's even willing to make a trade happen and step aside for the betterment of the team!

his being such a let down makes him seem bad. when he is really only decent imo.

He's been an incredible regular season goalie BUT for whatever reason the past few years in the post season he really didnt not only elevate his game but his game went down. I shouldnt feel the need to cringe every time a shot is whiffed at him. Last year the team blew in the round against LA, they were all bad, including Luongo. Something is in his head, come playoff time, here in Vancouver and its better fro all parties if he finds a fresh start elsewhere. I'll root him on to do well wherever he goes BUT he needs to go.

You're such a scrub.

If Luongo wasn't in net for the first 2 games vs LA we'd have lost 6-1 or 7-1... the number of defensive breakdowns were ridiculously high. Schneider was in net for Game 3 and on because something had to be changed and the team sure wasn't about to call a bunch of raw prospects to shake things up during the playoffs.

People like to harp on the theory that Luongo is a choker - heck, they'll say the same thing for just about any goaltender who's ever played for the Canucks. Maybe, just maybe the team does things that don't make the goalies look as good. You know, like give away the puck like candies at kindergarten and get outmuscled by bigger teams.

Uhhh...fuck you? Learn to comprehend kid. I said last year the entire team was a let down in that first round. I'm a long time fan of this team, have been since King Richard led us to a 4 game sweep against the Islanders. I've watched a lot of fucking hockey and have earned the right to any fucking opinion I feel I have. Now sit the fuck down.

I've likely forgotten more about hockey than you'll EVER know...rofl

games 3 4 6 against the bruins are the only games luongo really blew it for the nucks in the playoffs. against la lat year there was so much that went wrong, scheneider might've played better but it was irrelevant.

Don't be so full of yourself.
Everyone has valid points here.
I'd quote more people besides you but I'm tired. I'm not attempting to single you out.

Luongo has been nothing but a class act since his move to Vancouver. He's given us plenty of opportunities to succeed. He's also largely been a scapegoat for a team that has collapsed in front of him.
Yes, he's been lit up and has had his bad games. Every goalie has. But he's still been there for us when we needed him. He's stolen games for us and changed the tide of the game with timely saves.
He's also "choked" like the rest of the team in front of him. So often it has been if Luongo goes, the team goes and vice versa.

Should we have gotten to the SCF game 7? Fuck no. Why did we get there? Luongo. Without a doubt. There is no other reason.

It's sad it is time for him to move on, but it's better for the team, him, and his family.

I still like Luongo and would love to see him succeed wherever he goes. I have no doubt he'll be posting great numbers where ever he ends up. I just hope he doesn't beat us out one year if we have to face him ;)

tl;dr - I'm tired of people ragging Luongo like it's entirely his fault. The team collapses and he is hung out to dry so often. He took the role of scapegoat like a champion and deserves nothing but the best.
