imagine if Benning somehow dealt with eriksson, benn and sutter's contract. That's like 12m in cap space!

Mike Gillis is rolling in his penthouse condo

To think Luongo was at a 5.33 cap hit and still resulted in Markstrom when he was considered an albatross contract...

For what it's worth, Gillis/Gillman predicted cap would go up over the years and make 5.3 cap hit a chump change for a goalie of his calibur. I mean let's pretend torts never coached canucks, I think lu would have stayed a Canuck. I don't think Benning has the balls or is the type of guy to pressure/convince lu to retire early either. If anything, probably would have stashed him in ltir lol.

I hear rumors Gillis might be NJD Gm? But another rumor I heard is that he didn't wanna be a Gm, rather just president of hockey operations. Just wants to bring his smart ass outside the box thinking to the hockey world. I remember a lot of Gm around the league hated Gillis for "cheating" with advanced analytics when it wasn't a common thing back then

it's funny that Gillis had over 200 NHL games and years of agent work under his belt, and yet was considered kind of an outsider among GMs because of his focus on analytics and cap management. no wonder he doesn't want to be GM again.

maybe we stay competitive if Gillis had hired someone like Brackett... his terrible drafting did him in when the core started getting old.

Yeah he admitted he should've paid more attention to the scouting department, but he was fired before he could fix it.

He's a pretty smart guy, bringing in sleep doctors because the Canucks players travel way more than any other team in the league. It actually helped the team a lot with reduced injuries and shit like that. I kind of wish aquaman would just bring him back and make him prez op.

UFA Tyler Toffoli’s agent Pat Brisson : “During the pandemic I’ve been in touch with Jim a few times. For the short time that Tyler has been in Vancouver, he has definitely enjoyed the city and the direction of the team.”

Translation: but we won't be signing here cuz Benning can't fit us =(

Goldobin has officially left for the KHL.

Wish him the best.

Really wanted it to work for him in Vancouver.

Above average skill but if you cant crack the top six there is no spot for you in the bottom six if you cant play physical, defense first hockey.

Just seeing this now.

Ya I would not take that as good news.

Side note:

Has the NHL made an official statement regarding trades made involving draft picks?

I wonder if teams will be SOL if there is no more hockey this season.

1st round picks got tossed around by some teams and it could all be for nothing.

Losing a 2nd would suck but it other teams paid more.

It would be hilarious if they're like okay trade is nulled, trade backsies.
