and honestly went through the same thing with my family dog just 2 days ago, so definitely feel for ya
moved out but my parents decided to treat my dog definitely spent a couple grand on surgery, was on expensive meds. after all the surgery and everything he still hasn't been great and we had to put him down 2 days ago.
sucks but i mean in reality it probably wasn't worth treating him as much as we did because we ended up putting him down regardless

Sorry to hear that jamftw. I have 2 dogs right now. And have had to put one down before. What sucks with Leonard, my boxer, is that he's just turning 4. He's not even halfway thru his life. And costing me 6 grand... I just. I don't even know. My wife is wanting to spend the cash and she'd do it again in a heartbeat. But I find that to be an unwise decision on a surgery that may not have a high success rate.

He has a swollen gland underneath his tongue. Called a Ranula. It's a salivatory gland. So what happens is he has this big mass that fills under his tongue and eventually forces him to drink differently and eat awkwardly. It doesn't effect him in any other way except for being unsightly.
I've paid for 2 different operations which he has to go under for and they cut it open, drain it, and do a biopsy to ensure it is just saliva filled and then they stitch a hole "open" in hopes that if it keeps swelling, it'll self drain. And well both those attempts have failed.
