Guessing at total number being 1.5B, those are numbers from local Councillors who aren't fans of the funding model, so it seems like a fair guesstimate.

As far as the cost of cleaning up the contamination, maybe 200m in the number above, that doesn't really factor for me because its government land, and the public would be footing that bill anyway, whoever it is sold to. Updating some of Crowchild and Bow Trail also doesn't overly bother me, because that's been on the city's to do list for a while.

So maybe 1B then for the project. The Flames want to give 200m. That's bullshit, it's their lowball first draft and it's not going to fly. Flames owners Edwards, etc, are billionaires and some of the richest people in Canada, and the team itself is worth around $460m. I'm curious what the compromise will be, and I don't think it will come soon, because Nenshi is a hardass and is very against any public funding at all for the project. Ken King says the Flames have no plan B, they're all in, so this might take a long while. The Oilers robbed their city blind, the Flames, I guess, are at least going to try.
