71 pts in 67 games for MIller.

59.6% faceoffs.

Team leading 113 hits.

Can't believe Benning gave up a 1st for this cap dump.

He never takes a shift off. The amount of board battles he wins is insane. Guys a beast

He mentors Jake too

Has playoff experience, came from a winning team environment

Locked up on cheap contract too

1st Rd is a small price compared to what he already did for the Canucks

Without the albatross contracts our forward group looks damn good.

Moving forward, this is what the core could look like:

Miller - Petey - Boeser
Pearson - Horvat - Toffoli
Virtanen - Gaudette - x
Motte - x - McEwan

Too bad we have this to deal with:

Eriksson - $6M
Sutter - $4.5M
Ferland - $3.5M
Bae - $3.4M
Roussel - $3M
Beagle - $3M

Legit over $20M in players who would barely be missed, maybe collectively have a net positive impact if they never skated again. If we could get rid of any of these guys for free, I'd only keep Beagle for his faceoff taking ability. But right now, they're seriously getting in the way of retaining Toffoli/Tanev/Markstrom. Benning is going to need to pull a fast one at the draft, because with the cap going up there will be no sweetheart deals.

Ferland will probably never play again. He will just remain on long term injury reserve until his contract expires. Because he is under 35 I don't think there is any punishment to the team in terms of a cap hit. That money can go towards resigning free agents.

Suuter is just one more year. Spooner buyout penalty will be off the books next year as well. I think Baertschi has some of his cap hit buried in Utica.

Loui we are stuck with.... Beagle and Roussell are serviceable so I think they will be moved at the expense of giving up a draft pick.

The cap situation is a mess but even with boat anchor Loui deal weighing us down I think it is still possible to keep Markstrom and Toffoli. Sadly we will probably lose Tanev due to these shit contracts though.

He has exceeded my expectations. I was super stoked when we got him because I saw him play and it was obvious how good his 200 ft game was. You could also see if he was given a chance offensively he could put up better numbers.

Never did I expect him to be this good though..... What a steal. Look how many 1st round picks got passed around at the deadline, for far lesser players. The Canucks made off like bandits with this trade.

These are playoff probabilities.

I am not sure of the validity of this testing methond. Apparently a sim is ran 1000 times to determine the numbers.

What do you all think? They are giving the Canucks a 72.7% chance at this point. I like that number.

Roussel is a huge drag because he's extremely undisciplined. Discounting MacEwan who hasn't played many games, he's by far our top penalty taker... over 2 every 60 minutes. He takes 4 penalties for every PP he draws. Even Virtanen is a net positive penalty drawer. And all we get for it is mediocre point production and some "physicality", because he's not really deployed to play in defensive or late game situations. Not worth it at all.

I don't get GMs obsession with players like Roussel and Dorsett, they put your team on the PK when they're eating up soft minutes in the offensive zone.
