The only things webber have been consistent in the last few years is allowing more than average scoring chances and scoring on the power play. Oh, and putting himself off position to land those impressive looking hits, but that's part of the reason why he concedes so many scoring opportunities.
People will watch him stamp people into the boards and score a few goals, they'll think we got some elite D, and not notice how unreliable he is where it counts, or how little he improves his 4 teammates' production.
Radio, however... I wouldn't be surprised to see him do 60-70 this year. Probably knocking at the door of the top 10 League scorers but not quite reaching that, however many points that means.
Nah - you're wrong.
Weber may not be sound positionally to land those hits - but neither was Subban - ever.
And that was under a completely different play style and coaching system.
Did you watch the WCoH?
I was there for the Canada vs Russia game - and he's honestly one of the most level headed traditional defense men I've ever seen. When Pricey flat out say's it's a good adjustment, and he likes having him in front of him - it tells you there's something positive to look for.
And he's not intended to improve their production - rather reduce the opposing teams production.
Subban did not improve his line mates production. In fact - he hurt their production because it was always a predictable dump, chase, feed to Subban - slap-o-rama, recover and repeat.
Every team on the East had him figured out, and he was always a walking target due to that.
Now I'm not saying Weber isn't another target with his shot - and I guaranfuckingtee that MT will pretty much try the same shit - but Weber is selfless enough to simply give the puck to the person with the best positional chance. Because he's not a showboat.
I love Subban - for who he is - what he is , and how he is. But it didn't work for Montreal. Not anymore
