Older stuff wont be the same as todays computer
What u can do is findibg your motherboard manual..it will tell you how to plug everything and what u must not do
Building a pc is very easy if u have the manual
I built my first one when i was like 14 and i knew absolutely nothing about comp

building pcs is easy its just a bunch of things that plug into slots on the motherboard its like playing with lego
if you got an old pc that doesnt work or w/e just take the left side off then look at it unplug shit see how it works get the basic idea
and if your going to learn id say atleast do fairly new shit computers upgrade all the time if you learn really old shit its useless unless you gotta help your 50 year old aunt fix her pc so she can play bingo sorta deal
try to find the ram and processor and figure out which cards are which(look at plugs on back) learn the basics first

I always cringe when putting the CPU on though. When you lock it in there's this sickening crunch that sounds like you just destroyed it.

thats the thing
u buy "cheap crap" and plan on upgrading it? then u cant start out with cheap crap because cheap crap doesnt fit with modern parts i just had that issue with my dads pc
he bought a 1tb harddrive but it wouldnt register on his pc so i had to swap him the 200gig that came with it(win for me but just an example)
happens with graphics cards n shit too make sure u start off with a hlaf decent motherboard if u plan on buying a pc and upgrading it if its dated itll be hard to get shit and upgrade to paly current games
and make sure u get a big enough powersupply... i wanna get a 2nd vid card for my pc but my powersupply cant handle it so gotta dish out like $100 for that on top of the card which is another $100
like u can get motherboards that support 3 video cards instead of 1... stuff like that keep that in mind for upgrading... down the line ur cards might be a bit dated but if u can throw another 1 or 2 cards in you can equal the new expensive ones
and then theres ram speeds like ddr1 ddr ddr3 ddr 5 ect ect the newer your shit more likely to have better ram slots ... ddr3 is cheaper then drr2 also becasue ddr2 is sorta rare and getting phased out due to ddr3
like i went n bought 4 gigs of ddr2 cu thats what my motherboard uses cost me $70 but ddr3 is like $40 for 4 gigs lol
