Cuz I wrote a paper on how pokemon is about world war 2 and wanted to see if it still held up to scrutiny. It does. Mewtwo is the Axis, Mew is the US, Ash, Brock, and Misty are the european Allies. Team Rocket is Russia, Mewtwo's initial attack which enrages Mew is Pearl Harbor - before that Mew was just helping the Allies out a little bit. It ended with Mewtwo essentially removing himself from the earth.

Mew is in a bubble for the first half of the movie like america was in the isolationist era, Mewtwo is trying to create a genetically perfect race of pokemon, and Mewtwo goes berserk because he entered into a truce that ended up weakening him an unacceptable amount (treaty of verseilles bitches). There's even social commentary on how stupid war is because it's humans fighting humans for no good reason.

Japanese, but the english version was extremely different from the japanese version. Creative editing and voice acting.
